Dr. Phong Sleep Disorder Clinic

Key points

  • Diagnosis and treatment of insomnia, sleep disorders, anxiety and autonomic nervous system disorders.
  • In person in Dong Thuan Ward, Quang Tri Province, and by video consultation anywhere in Vietnam or abroad.
  • Treatment follows international guidelines: cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) first line for chronic insomnia; medication is an adjunct or a short-term option.
  • Free self-assessment tools with immediate results. No sign-up, no details required.

Three things we do differently

  1. Understand the condition correctly. Insomnia is not simply "sleeping little". It has specific diagnostic criteria, and many things that look like insomnia are in fact other conditions: sleep apnoea, restless legs syndrome, circadian rhythm disorders.
  2. Find the real cause. Most of the first consultation goes into ruling things out. Skipping that step is the most common reason insomnia treatment fails.
  3. Treat in the right direction, without dependence on sleeping pills. International guidelines place behavioural therapy first line, before medication, not after medication has failed.

Does any of this sound familiar

  • Difficulty sleeping for weeks on end.
  • Palpitations, a racing heart, anxiety without an obvious reason.
  • Taking a sedative and still waking up exhausted.

If this has lasted more than two weeks and is affecting your days, that is the point to be seen. There is no need to wait until it becomes unbearable.

Where to start

  • Not sure whether you have a problem: take the insomnia screening questionnaire. Immediate result, free.
  • Want to understand the condition first: read the Insomnia or Sleep disorders page.
  • Already taking sleeping pills and looking for a way out: read Sleeping pills and sedatives.
  • Ready to be seen: book an appointment, in person or by video.

Frequently asked questions

I live far from Quang Tri. Can I still be seen?
Yes. Insomnia is one of the few conditions where a video consultation loses nothing compared with being in the room, because the diagnosis rests on history taking and a sleep diary rather than on physical examination.
Will I automatically be prescribed sleeping pills?
No. For chronic insomnia the first-line approach under international guidelines is behavioural therapy. Medication is an adjunct or a short-term option, and whether it is used depends on the diagnosis.
What does it cost?
See the fees page. We do not publish figures on the site because the fee depends on the format and length of the consultation, but you are always told the amount before the appointment is confirmed. Nothing is added afterwards.
